To the leaders of the major political parties of Ontario,
We are in the midst of a key election for the environment and for the future of Ontario. I am demanding meaningful climate action from you and your parties. We need to see stronger legislation that prioritizes people, the environment, and a liveable future.
To that end I am calling upon you to commit to these four items:
1. Banning the burning of plastic and setting high standards for re-use and recycling that would require refill or recycling of 90 per cent of beverage containers.
2. Cancelling both Highway 413 & the Bradford Bypass and maintaining the cancellation of the Mid-Peninsula Highway.
3. Committing to fully funding affordable co-op housing to support liveable cities and social equity.
4. Developing and adopting a Rights of Nature Legislation.
I will also be asking your candidates and their volunteers about these issues when they come to my door.
Sincerely,
